One of my favourites whites I've had anywhere. Stoney peaches and light smokey lime, perfect for a cool clear evening with three new cheeses, salad and bread of the tradition varieté.

Roc de Villemoine Bordeaux Supérieur 2013

Valentine's night dinner wine, purple red, light on tannin (two days ago in), tart. Pepper, pencil shavings, citrus. Nice. 5€40 at Franprix.

La Margaudière Muscadet Sèvre et Maine 2013 sur lie


Pale green-yellow citrus. Tastes like rocks, lemon, smoke and vanilla. Tart and creamy. Nice. 5€.

La Croix l'Abbé Haut Poitou Sauvignon Blanc 2014


Cool days and nights in Paris, with smatterings of rain splatter. This white is warming, lots of tart lime. Stunningly delicious. Around 5€ at Franprix.

Les Parcelles de Stephane Derenoncourt Bordeaux 2012


A dark ruby Bordeaux that gives off wet leather, wet leaf pile and wet leather  Tastes like stewed tomatoes and hot blueberries, pretty acidic. Leathery. Great with the brillat savarin and roche montaigne blue cheese and bread and mixed greens on our second night back in Paris for a six weeker. 5€40 at Franprix.

Cold night in Paris, making sweet potato fries, green beans. Bread and cheese doing overtime lately.
