Annex Kloof Sauvignon Blanc/Chenin Blanc/Chardonnay 2008

Sometimes I get stuck in a rut, especially with white wines and routes to Dairy Queen. You want to try something new but for some reason you end up hiking past the Biltmore, crossing Kingsway and heading down 12th Ave to Main Street where you turn left and then before you know it you're eating a Peanut Buster Parfait.

Same with white wines. But this one was different. First off, it was a deeper gold colour than other whites I've had recently. The flavours as well, unfamiliar. I'd summarize it as "tart stone fruit." More peach than apple, more honey than pineapple. A little sulphury, a bit of asparagus. A little nutty.

Overall, clearly complex. Like the route to Dairy Queen.
