Badenhorst Secateurs Red Blend 2010

Here's what I get: deep ruby red in colour, with aromas of cranberry, soil and pencils. Tastes tart, a bit smoky, earthy, with sour cherry and other ripe fruit. Very nice. I like it. Moderate tannins.

My wife and I are packing up, selling some stuff on Craigslist, and heading to the old world. France. Got to get our gear together. Sell it or store it.

The Badenhorst family makes a series of nice wines, made on Kalmoesfontein farm in the Paardeberg area, in the Swartland appellation, between Malmesbury and Wellington.

Also, their wine label is funny, noting:
"The property is owned by the dynamic and good looking cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst. The two of them have restored a neglected cellar on the farm that was last used in the 1930's, to make natural wines in the traditional manner."

Maybe we'll visit. A tour of the wine region sounds nice. They have olives.
